The Website Poll

January 24, 2013 by Surgeon's Advisor

Adding a poll to your website can be very beneficial, even when it comes to I nternet advertising for cosmetic surgeons. Polls can add an interactive element for your visitors, which is always a good thing. An interactive website is a more interesting one, engaging visitors, allowing them to participate, and giving them a reason to return. Polls have another benefit in that they can provide you with important information about your visitors.

Adding a poll to your site is easy to do. The first step is to either find a remotely hosted poll service or to install a CGI script yourself. A remotely hosted poll is easier to set up, but it cannot be customized as much as one you host yourself. A CGI script, on the other hand, will allow you to better customize your poll.

The next step is to write your poll questions. Keep in mind that you’re not only making your site more interactive, you’re also looking to collect important information about your visitors. Topics should be related to plastic surgery and should be of interest to both you and your visitors. You might ask visitors if they’ve ever considered a particular procedure, if there’s particular information that they’re looking for more information about, what they’re looking for in a plastic surgeon, and so on.

Once you’ve come up with some questions, it’s time to post your poll. It’s important that your poll be well-written and also that it’s placed well. The best location is a highly visible one, preferably near the top of the page. Pop-up polls open in a separate window but, because they often get a poor response, a poll that’s integrated into your site is often a better option. Your results will be displayed for your visitors to see. By keeping track of your results, you can use the information to improve your website and your services.
