SEO No-No’s in Plastic Surgery Marketing Advice

January 24, 2013 by Surgeon's Advisor

Most people know by now that search engines hate those little SEO tricks that they consider spam. Still, they seem to be a bit too irresistible for some as people are still using them in their site design. However, using these spam techniques can get you kicked out of the search engines, so the safest route is to simply avoid them. The following are those spam techniques that are frowned upon by the search engines:

  • Hidden Text And Links. These are text or links that are the same color as the background, thus they become into the background. They are not seen by visitors but they are indexed by the search engines.
  • Cloaking. Cloaking is used to fool the search engines by showing a web page to the search engine spider that is different than the web page that visitors see.
  • Doorway Pages. Doorway pages are those pages created solely for the search engines.
  • Duplicate Content. This is the creation of two or more web pages that have the same content.
  • Keyword Stuffing. This involves the obvious, overuse of keywords within a page.
  • Irrelevant Keywords. This involves the use of keywords not related to the web page. For instance, placing keywords about sports in the meta tag or page of your plastic surgery web page would entail the use of irrelevant keywords.

Many of these spam tricks go against the idea of creating web pages for your visitors. For instance, keyword stuffing often results in pages that make no sense and are unreadable, and the use of irrelevant keywords does not provide visitors with what they came looking for. While these tricks may work to bring visitors to your site through the search engines, they certainly won’t be successful in converting those visitors into actual patients. Instead, they’ll like send those visitors elsewhere. The best approach is a balanced one, creating web pages for your visitors that are also search engine friendly.
