Improve Your Website Visitor’s Experience In Two Simple Steps

January 24, 2013 by Surgeon's Advisor

When it comes to marketing plastic surgeons on the Internet, a good website is one that offers its visitors lots of content. The reason for this is that many of the visitors to your site will find you after conducting a search in a search engine. Having lots of keyword-rich content can improve your rankings in the search engines, thus increasing the traffic to your site. But more importantly, many of those visitors are searching for information about plastic surgery and, by clicking on your website, will expect you to provide it. As such, including lots of valuable and informative content on your website can satisfy your visitors, increase your credibility and expertise in their eyes, and encourage them to become your actual patients.

If you’ve ever tried logging through tons of content on a website, however, you know that it can get tiring. In fact, reading text on the web is more strenuous on the eyes than reading text in print. Further, Internet users generally don’t idle through pages on the Web like they might pages in a good book. Instead, the Internet tends to be fast-paced and users tend to be hurried. They expect to find what they want right away or else they’ll simply go elsewhere. The following are two simple tips that can be applied to your content in order to improve your visitor’s experience on your site:

Scannable Text. It’s been shown that Internet users don’t read text on the web word for word like they would text in print. Instead, they tend to scan text. Because of this, you should format your text so that is scannable. Try to keep your paragraphs to a single idea and highlight important text with headlines, bulleted lists, bold text or different colored text. Make sure that your tags, title tags and heading tags, are appropriate and descriptive. Also try to keep your visitors from having to scroll vertically. You can do this by breaking up large amounts of text into multiple pages.

Concise Text. Any text, but especially your important text, should be to-the-point and short. While it’s best to limit your paragraphs to a single idea, you should also try to limit them to just three to four lines. Don’t be verbose or long-winded. Instead, edit down your text so that it gets to the point, is shorter, and more precise. Your visitors will appreciate your efforts.
