If You Want More Traffic, Avoid These Common Mistakes

If You Want More TrafficRegardless of whether you’re marketing cosmetic surgery practices or any other business on the Internet, you could probably benefit from more traffic. There are a lot of tips and tricks for promoting your website and increasing your traffic. Unfortunately, some of them are best avoided. While you’re submitting your site to search engines, promoting your website, and building traffic, it’s important that you avoid the following common mistakes:

  • Spam. Sure, cloaked pages, doorway pages and hidden text might get you high rankings for a day or two in the search engines, but they’re also a surefire way to ultimately get your site kicked out and blacklisted. There are all sorts of different spam techniques, some you might not even realize are spam, so make sure that none are included on your website.
  • Non-Targeted Traffic. Having lots and lots of traffic coming to your site isn’t worth a whole lot if those visitors aren’t actually interested in cosmetic surgery. Make sure that you’re targeting the right keywords to target the right people and that your meta information gives a good, detailed description of your site and your services.
  • Single/Broad Keywords. It can be very hard to rank well and get the traffic you’re looking for if you’re targeting single keywords or overly broad keywords. It’s generally best to get as specific as possible for your target market. This will greatly decrease the amount of competition that your website goes up against.
  • Bad Design. No matter how well your site performs in the search engines or how much traffic you get to your site, a poor website design can spoil all your efforts. When you get all that traffic to your site, you don’t want to scare them away, you want them to stay for a good, long time. As such, make sure that your design is simple, clean and appealing.
  • Missing Links. For most search engines, links are a crucial element of their ranking algorithm. Because of this, it’s important that you acquire lots of relevant, quality inbound links.
  • Missing Or Messy Meta Tags. Meta tags carry varying degrees of importance among the search engines. Nevertheless, it’s definitely worth your effort to ensure that your pages have meta tags, and that those tags are descriptive, accurate, and specific to each page.
  • Coding Errors. Lots of websites have coding errors or cluttered code which are easy to overlook. Unfortunately, this can effect your ranking in the search engines so be sure that your code is clean.
