It doesn’t matter whether you’re marketing plastic surgeons, medical practices or any other business on the Internet, a successful website must have effective navigation. In order for your website’s navigation to be effective, it must be clear, easy to use, and highly visible.
- Location. Position your navigation in a prime location on your page. The top or left of the page is often best. Internet users have come to expect navigation to be located in these spots. Further, because Internet users typically scan a page from left to right starting at the top, your navigation will be found quickly.
- Color. Color can be used very effectively to grab a visitor’s attention and this is true when it comes to your navigation. Navigation is often placed against a colored background and this can effectively draw attention. When choosing a color, make sure that you consider the other colors on your site. A bright, vivid color will certainly stand out, but it may not work well with your color palette. Instead, use a contrasting color that still complements your color palette while creating a strong contrast from the rest of your page.
- Space. Give your navigation some breathing room by leaving plenty of space around it. If your navigation is cluttered by lots of other elements, it will be less likely to stand out.
- No Ads. Internet users have come to ignore ads and most things associated with them. As such, make sure that you keep your navigation well away from any ads on your page. Further, make sure that your navigation in no way looks like an ad.
