Images and Your Plastic Surgery WebsiteImages can be used in all kinds of ways and for all sorts of things on your website. When it comes to a website for your plastic surgery practice, images can be essential. Potential patients on the Internet are going to want to see for themselves the results that you can achieve. The best way to do that is to include before and after pictures of previous patients on your site. Other images can also help with the design of your site. These might be images of friendly-looking doctors and nurses, or images of attractive people. An informational page about rhinoplasty might include an image of an attractive man or woman in profile, or a page on rhytidectomy might include an image of an attractive, youthful-looking older woman. Though images can certainly make a site, they can also break a site. Because of this, they must be used wisely and with care. There’s nothing sure to frustrate visitors more than making them wait for your site to load. In fact, most visitors will simply leave your site and go elsewhere. Though modem connections today are becoming increasingly more powerful and faster, this still remains a common complaint among Internet users. Even the most striking, state-of-the-art graphics may need to be scaled down. After all, if they’re not loading they’re serving no purpose and, worse, may simply be irritating your visitors. All graphic elements should be kept as small as possible. Each graphic element is best limited to 10k or 12k in size, with the total amount of graphics on a page being no larger than 20k. Photographs should be converted to a JPG and, when possible, thumbnails should be used. Remember, too, that limiting the number of images on a page can actually result in a better design. By using them sparingly, your images gain more presence and provide a greater impact. If your page is overrun with images, they may simply get lost in the mix. |
