who controls the website

When you work with another company - a web designer or serach engine company - who actually controls the website? How do you do it?

That's a very good question... and we've addressed it in some previous articles. However, we'll go through that again because it's so important. First, your WEBSITE is really just the series of files that reside on a web server somewhere. You can think of the files and how they reside on that server in the same way you think of files that you browse on your own computer, using Windows Explorer. Often, the web designer is the only one who has access to that, though the designer may make access available to the doctor, too. What's VERY IMPORTANT is that you control the DOMAIN REGISTRATION of the website. You should be listed as the Registrar and the billing contact. That way you actually control your valuable domain.
