What does CPM stand for?



CPM is a metric from the print days of advertising, meaning "Cost Per Thousand," using the Roman numeral "M" to stand for one thousand. A price of $15 CPM means, $15 for every thousand times a banner is displayed. On the Internet, this means that if you're getting a $20 CPM rate, you will pay $20 for 1,000 impressions of your banner -- or, 1,000 displays of it.
