Google To Build One Million Square-Foot Campus At NASA Ames Research Center

Google has announced plans to build a one million square-foot campus at the NASA Ames Research Center. The location is not far from their current headquarters in Mountain View , CA , known affectionately as Googleplex'.

The deal between Google and NASA includes plans to cooperate on research projects. These projects include large-scale data management, nanotechnology, and the entrepreneurial space industry. It also includes a project known as massively distributed computing, which aims to harness the power of thousands of PCs via the Internet while not being used by their volunteer owners in order to work on large scale research project like space exploration and health.

Google will be leasing the land from the government which, as the company announced, will largely be used for office space for company research and development. According to a statement given by NASA, the partnership with Google presents an enormous range of potential benefits to the space program.
