Outbound Links And Plastic Surgeon Web Site Promotion

When it comes to plastic surgeon web site promotion, search engine optimization is crucial. Many if not most of the visitors to your site will likely find you through the search engines. By optimizing your site for the search engines, you can rank high in results and get more targeted traffic to your site.

By now, many people understand the importance of having inbound links. The search engines view inbound links to your site as a sort of popularity vote in your favor. As such, the more relevant inbound links you have, the better your search engine ranking. Outbound links, however, have been virtually ignored. In fact, some even believe that outbound links are a negative thing to have. In truth, you can't ignore outbound links and how important they can be to your website. By having a number of quality outbound links on your site, you can increase your search engine rank as well.

Inbound links are links from other sites which direct visitors to your site. Outbound links, on the other hand, are links on your site that point to either external web sites or other pages within your site. Linking to internal pages, or different pages or sections within your site, is often referred to as cross linking. One way to crosslink your pages is with a navigation menu. However, there are other valuable crosslinks, such as alternative text links which are often placed at the bottom of every page, text links within page content, and a text-based site map. All of these crosslinks can help your visitors, allowing them to see what you have to offer and to quickly find the information they want. They can also make indexing your site much easier for the search engines, particularly a site map, and pages containing a large number of both inbound and outbound links are often afforded a higher page rank.

External outbound links are those links which point to external web sites. These are the type of outbound links that some believe to be negative and, if they include them at all, they often place all of their external links on a single page. The thinking is that external links send visitors away from your website, something that you never really want to do. There are, however, ways to keep your site open to visitors while they click on external links. For instance, you can format the link to open in a new browser window.

Another way to look at external links, however, is that rather then sending your visitors away, they can provide your visitors with valuable information. As such, when including external links, make sure that they're relevant and that they enhance your own content. For instance, your plastic surgery website is likely to have an About Us' or an About The Doctor' page which lists your credentials and experience. This can be a perfect place to include external links. If, for example, you're a member of the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, include a link to their website. Another example would be a page on the costs associated with plastic surgery procedures. While you may not be able to provide exact costs for the procedures your perform, you can include statistical averages, such as those provided by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, as well as a link to their website.
