Choosing Fonts For Your Plastic Surgery Website
While there are many aspects that make content on the web easy to read, a commonly overlooked one is the font type. Reading text on a computer is different than reading text in print. To begin with, it's more strenuous on the eyes. Further, the text on a particular printed page will always look the same, but text on a website is subject to many variables. Screen resolution, screen size, and different operating systems and browsers can all effect the way that the text appears on a website. A site's text may appear fine on one screen resolution and illegible on another. To ensure that your website's text is easy to read, there are several things to keep in mind when selecting your font. First make sure that you select a standard font type and font size. Try to refrain from jazzing up' your site by using different types of font and make sure that your font size is neither too small nor too large. A study comparing eight different fonts online found that Arial, Courier and Verdana fonts were the most legible while Comic Sans was the most illegible. In addition Georgia and Times New Roman fonts were found to be the most attractive. As for font size, Verdana was most preferred at the 10-point size and Times New Roman the least. At the 12-point size, Arial was the most preferred and, again, Times New Roman the least. Verdana appeared to be the most preferred font overall and the most legible. Another important tip regarding font type and size is to be sure to test your pages. Take a look at your website on different monitors and operating systems, at different screen resolutions, and in different browsers. You want to pick the font type and size that works on the majority of them. When it comes to plastic surgery advertising on the Internet, be sure to provide your visitors and potential patients with lots of content and ensure that that content is an appropriate font and easy to read. |
